ANTI-FLAG LAUNCHES COUNTER-RECRUITMENT MOVEMENT! Somewhere in DC there was a stupid white man that thought it would be a pretty keen idea to grant military recruiters free reign over student records at public schools. These will no doubt be used for finding the most underprivileged and desperate children to prey upon for their wars. Kids ain't exactly lining up to die anymore, and the best part yet, is that this is all part of the No Child Left Behind Act. Pure madness. The good news is that there's something you can do to keep recruiters off campus, and you can start by going here:

a message from q-104.3 fm in ny...x-posted [30 Sep 2004|10:38am]

Q104.3 is saddened to report that our friend, the
legendary Scott Muni passed away last night at the
age of 74. We want to express our deepest
condolences to the Muni family. Our thoughts and
prayers are with them at this time.

Scott's trademark gravelly voice graced New York
airwaves for five decades. But he's most
remembered for his relationship and friendship
with the Beatles. He always started his show at
Q104.3 with a "Beatles Block." Starting Friday at
7pm and continuing through the entire weekend,
you'll hear nothing but Scott's Beatles Blocks,
back to back. We can't think of a more fitting way
to honor the memory and legacy of "The Professor."

If you have a thought or memory of Scott that you
would like to share, we invite you to visit
Q1043.com. You can also call 212-819-5266 and
leave a recorded message. All messages and emails
will be forwarded to the Muni family.

'And in the end, the love you take is equal to the
love you make.'

ok so the republican convention is underway. i so wish i had gotten home earlier from my vacation so i could march with the protesters. i am appalled that rudy had the unmitigated audacity to utter dubyas name in the same sentence with that of the late, great winston churchill, even going so far as to compare the two. um...yeah churchill's CIGAR was more intelligent than dubya. also i am slightly offended at the fact that images of 9/11 are being used to his advantage. it could have just as easily happened before he was elected, and then he would have nothing to cling to in his election campaign. i cant say RE-election because as we all know he wasnt elected in the first place, but rather he was appointed by the supreme court. anyway, i digress...i was about to say that this shit COULD have just as easily happened before he took office...that is of course if it hadnt been planned out and carried out by him and his friends. lets not forget that dubya's daddy was a HUGE player in the administration that armed and trained osama and the taliban and they owed him big for that. so they staged this shit and killed all these people and picked a few low ranking camel jockeys to take the fall and osama will never be caught. of course the day before the election they will probably dress some pee-on to look like osama and claim they captured the 9/11 madman. i have long thought this to be true. the thought first struck me about an hour or 2 after i got home from work that day. i was watching the news recap of the events of the day and it suddenly occurred to me that this was going to be the thing to prevent bush from being the lame-duck president he was otherwise destined to be. first he creates this "attack", then he declares "war on terror" and invades afghanistan. granted a lot of women were positively affected by the outcome of that attack, but that was just an added bonus--not the real reason behing the attack. the real reason was 2-fold. first, we now had an ally in the muslim world in the new governing body of afghanistan, and second, we now have another american influenced government that will bring us that much closer to one world government. the truth of the matter is this: there IS no war on terror. there is a war on whomever dubya sees fit to point a finger at on a given day. if this were truly a war on terror the palestinian authority would have been wiped out by now. thats where the bulk of the worlds terrorists come from. there and saudi arabia. when the marines roll up on the shores of th west bank and gaza and blow up all the palestinians that are trying to take over israel one bus bomb at a time, THEN he can call it a war on terror. until then its just a bag of bullshit. same thing in iraq. dubya wanted to get saddam because saddam threatened his daddy. fine. i understand that. be a fucking man and call him out and beat the piss out of him one on one, skin on skin. dont make up a story about weapons of mass destruction which a year and a half later we still have yet to find and force thousands of american kids to go to their deaths and call it a "preemptive strike". thats just bad form. but, on the bright side we now have ANOTHER "ally" in the muslem world in the new iraqi government and are therefore ANOTHER step closer to one world government. there is no war on terror folks. youve been duped. a war on terror can never be won because no matter how many towel heads you kill, theyre making more by the thousands and teaching them to hate us in GRADE SCHOOL and preaching to them that they get a free ticket to heaven if they die while killing us. the only way to end terrorism is to get them all in one country and blow it up. and thats not going to happen because dubya's not really THAT commited to stopping these madmen. because he can use them. as if to illustrate my point, and strengthen my belief in these ideas, i found this on my friendspage this morning. before you click it off and rule it out, watch the whole thing. its not about the graphics (except where they show the holes in the pentagon walls)but about the quotes from eyewitnesses. im glad im not the only one that realizes that it is impossible for the pentagon to have been hit by a boeing 757 that day. click the link and im sure you'll agree. one of these days im going to write down all the things that keep me voting democrat every 4 years when im really not all that liberal as most democrats are. untill then, i hope this provoked some thought. let the flaming begin.

poke homer. [17 Aug 2004|02:32am]

so yeah, bush makes a big deal about the fact that he cut taxes (like that 400 bucks really made an impact on my lifestyle) and says that tax cuts are what we need to make the economy stronger. then he decides that it would be a good idea to institute a national sales tax. what a brilliant idea. cut one tax and ADD A NEW ONE!! did he think his conservative cohorts would let that slip by undetected? yeah very un-republican of him, i think. not to mention that sales tax would be counterproductive because it would stop people from making large purchases because the tax might make big ticket items harder to afford. so then he finds that this decision is unpopular, so he backs off. Mr. Bush, can I offer you some butter and syrup to go with your waffle?

James Madison to the rescue
The Texas Republican Platform declares, in writing, underlined and bolded, that America is a Christian Nation.

Imagine our surprise.

So, for anyone trapped in a hopeless argument with deluded people who insist that the Texas Repubs are RIGHT, here are some links that might help:

I'm going to quote from "A Memorial and Remonstrance Against Religious Assessments" because even in 1785 my boy James Madison could bring it. Madison objected to a Virginia Commonwealth bill offering a tax whose benefits would go to teachers of Christianity. He wrote this RemonstranceCollapse )
